Storm damage claims open for Apokoronas fruit growers — deadline February 27
The windstorm that swept through Apokoronas on February 15, 2026 left citrus and avocado groves damaged across the municipality. Affected farmers now have a short window to register their losses with ELGA, the Greek agricultural insurance organisation, in order to be considered for compensation.
When and where to apply
Damage declarations can be submitted in person at two local citizen service centres (KEP), which are acting as ELGA correspondent offices:
- KEP Arméni — serving Kalyves Apokoronas, tel. 2825340504
- KEP Vrýses — serving Kryonerídes Apokoronas, tel. 2825340309
The submission period runs from February 19 to February 27, 2026. No applications will be accepted outside these dates.
What to bring
Farmers must present the following documents when submitting their claim:
- National ID card
- Tax identification number (AFM)
- Bank account details (IBAN)
- Crop/livestock declaration for 2025
Fees
ELGA charges an assessment fee of €0.10 per tree covered by the declaration. This is payable at the time of submission.
Who qualifies
The scheme applies to producers of citrus fruits and avocados whose crops were directly affected by the storm of February 15. Farmers growing other crops should contact ELGA directly to check whether a separate procedure applies to them.
