Planned power cuts in the Chania area: full schedule
Residents and businesses across a wide area around Chania should be aware of a series of scheduled electricity outages taking place between May 30 and June 6, 2026. The network operator DEDDIE needs to carry out maintenance work on the distribution grid, and supply will be interrupted in different areas on different days. The cuts are expected to last several hours each time.
Which areas are affected and when?
The outages are spread across six separate days:
- Saturday, May 30, 2026, 07:00–15:00: Nerokorou AVEA, Mylonakis (Cash and Carry), Tsikalaria pumping station, Lefakis boreholes, and the entire village of Tsikalaria.
- Sunday, May 31, 2026, 08:00–15:00: Chania city — Andreas Papandreou Street and all side streets and parallel roads.
- Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 08:00–15:00: Agrokipio, SGE, ETEAP, Institute of Subtropical Plants, KEGE, Mediterranean Agronomic Institute, Chania psychiatric hospital (ΘΨΠ), Vlites, Stefanaki barracks, 5th Division, Karagiorga Street, Lentariana.
- Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 08:00–15:00: Kalamitsi Amygdalou – Exopoli.
- Thursday, June 4, 2026, 08:00–15:00: Kalergiana, Marediana, Charchaliana, Choreftiana, Koukounara.
- Saturday, June 6, 2026, 08:00–15:00: Nerokorou, Moula Chanoum, Tzompanas, the area around Nerokorou football ground, and Mournies (Poulakis, Metohi Mournion, Akron A.E., Teleperformance, Terzis A.E., Rampalakos, Giannakis, Metro AEVE, Charakias, Mavromatis, Markoulakis, Pantelakis).
What you need to know
If the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule, electricity may be restored before 15:00 on any given day. However, this does not mean it is safe to assume the lines are dead: all cables and network components must be treated as live at all times, even if they appear to be lying on the ground. Approaching or touching any part of the overhead or ground-level network is strictly prohibited and carries a serious risk of fatal injury.
