The Apokoronas municipal council convenes for a regular in-person session on February 26, 2026 (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. in the council chamber in Vryses. The meeting will be recorded and streamed live on the municipality's YouTube channel.

Northern Crete corridor and high-voltage line

The first item asks the council to formally back a proposal for a combined routing of the new Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK) and a high-voltage power line between Chania and Damasta. If adopted, the decision will be forwarded to the Council of State and to the ministries responsible for infrastructure and for the environment and energy.

New campsite and hotel access

The council will consider granting entry and exit approval for a new organised tourist campsite in the village of Gavalochori (Vamos municipal unit). A separate item covers access arrangements for the Eliros Mare hotel in Kavros, which sits alongside the parallel road of the Chania–Rethymno national highway (Georgioupoli municipal unit).

Beach concessions 2026–2028

Councillors are asked to give their consent for the tender of beach concessions at various locations across the municipality for a three-year period running from 2026 to 2028. These concessions govern the commercial use of the foreshore by sun-bed operators and similar businesses.

Partnership with SOS Children's Villages

The council will vote on signing a memorandum of cooperation with SOS Children's Villages Greece, a recognised charitable organisation operating under private law.

Sister-city agreement with Boston

A twinning agreement is proposed between Apokoronas and the Waterfronts district of Boston, USA. The initiative is described under the title "The name Embrosneros unites two places", suggesting a link rooted in the shared name or heritage connecting the two communities.

Property rental and road donation in Kalyves

The council will examine a direct rental of a property in the Kokkino Chorio community. Separately, it will consider accepting a donation covering the design and construction of Road 25 within the urban plan of Kalyves.

Appointments to entertainment inspection board

Finally, the council must nominate representatives to the first- and second-instance inspection board for theatres, cinemas and other entertainment venues in the Chania regional unit for 2026–2027.
