Apokoronas seeks lifeguard contractor for 18 beach posts from July 2026

Summary

The municipality of Apokoronas has launched a public tender to provide lifeguard services at 18 stations across its most popular beaches for the summer of 2026. The contract, valued at €375,697.57 including VAT, covers the period from July 16 to September 30, 2026. Bids must be submitted electronically by June 22, 2026 at 14:00.

Apokoronas tenders lifeguard services for summer 2026

The municipality of Apokoronas has launched an international open public tender to staff 18 lifeguard towers at its busiest beaches for the 2026 summer season. Cover must run continuously — including Sundays and public holidays — throughout every hour each beach is open to the public, from July 16 to September 30, 2026.

Which beaches are covered?

Five beach areas across the municipality are included in the contract:

  • Kiani Akti beach (800 m): two lifeguard posts
  • Kalyves beach (400 m): one lifeguard post
  • Almyrida beach (400 m): one lifeguard post
  • Western bay of Georgioupolis (300 m, Kalyvaki area): one lifeguard post
  • Georgioupolis beach (5,000 m): thirteen lifeguard posts spread along the full length of the beach

By far the largest share of the contract falls on the long Georgioupolis beach, which alone requires thirteen certified lifeguards stationed at intervals from one end of the 5-kilometre stretch to the other.

Contract value and duration

  • Total value: €375,697.57 (including 24% VAT)
  • Net value: €302,981.91
  • Contract duration: 77 days, July 16 to September 30, 2026

If the contract is not signed by July 15, the municipality reserves the right to shorten the period and reduce the contract value accordingly, using an emergency procedure — since lifeguard cover at busy beaches is required by law and no gap in service is permitted.

Who can bid?

Any natural or legal person, or consortium of bidders, may apply. The winning contractor must have the legally required number of certified lifeguards (as set out in the relevant presidential decree), the necessary equipment, and demonstrated experience. The sole award criterion is the lowest price.

Key dates and requirements

  • Tender published: June 10, 2026
  • Bid submission deadline: June 22, 2026 at 14:00
  • Bids opened: June 23, 2026 at 10:00
  • Bid validity: 150 days from the day after the submission deadline
  • Bid bond: 2% of the estimated contract value, valid for at least 180 days

All bids must be submitted electronically through the national procurement portal at www.promitheus.gov.gr. The full tender documents are available free of charge on that portal and on the municipality's website.
