Apokoronas hiring 33 school cleaners for 2026/27

The municipality of Apokoronas is looking for 33 people to clean its primary and secondary school buildings for the upcoming academic year. The fixed-term contracts run for the full school year — from September 2026 to the end of June 2027. The recruitment drive comes partly because two long-serving full-time cleaners are retiring this year and because frequent sick leave among existing staff cannot be covered by moving workers between schools.

What positions are available?

All 33 positions carry the title of school cleaning operative and are based at the municipal seat in Vrysses:

  • Part-time positions: 19
  • Full-time positions: 14
  • Contract duration: Academic year 2026–2027
  • Maximum hiring age: 67 years

How are candidates scored?

Applicants are ranked using a points-based system. The higher your score, the better your chances. Key scoring criteria:

  • Work experience in a comparable role at the municipality of Apokoronas: 17 points per month, with up to 17 additional points depending on the number of classrooms previously assigned
  • Large families (4+ children): 30 points, plus 10 for each child beyond three
  • Three-child families: 15 points
  • Minor children: 5 points each for the first and second child; 10 points for each additional child
  • Single-parent families: 10 points per child
  • Disability of a parent, child, sibling or spouse (50–59%): 10 points; 70% and above: 17 points
  • Age up to 50: 10 points; over 50: 20 points

If two candidates score equally, the tie is broken by comparing each criterion in order. A public draw resolves any remaining tie.

How to apply

You must complete the official application form (SOX 14/2026), sign it by hand, and send it together with all supporting documents to the email address below. Applications without a physical signature will be rejected. No corrections or additional documents are accepted after the deadline.

What happens next?

Within 10 days of the deadline, the municipality will publish a ranked list of applicants on its website and on the notice board at the municipal offices in Vrysses. If you believe your points have been calculated incorrectly, you can submit a written objection — free of charge — within 2 working days of the list being published, again by email to the address above. After objections are reviewed, the final list of selected candidates is published and contracts are signed immediately.
