Storm damage claims: What citrus farmers in Apokoronas need to do now
Citrus growers in Apokoronas who suffered losses in the storm of January 11, 2026 have until January 26 to register their damage with ELGA, the Greek agricultural insurance organisation. Missing the deadline means forfeiting any right to compensation.
Where to submit a claim
Damage declarations can be submitted at two local ELGA representative offices:
- KEP Armenon – Kalyves, Apokoronas
- KEP Kryoneidas – Vrysses, Apokoronas
What to bring
Farmers attending in person must bring the following documents:
- Identity card (national ID)
- Tax identification number (AFM)
- Bank account details (IBAN)
- Crop or livestock declaration for 2025
Fees
A damage assessment fee of €0.10 per tree is charged at the time of submission.
Who this applies to
The deadline covers all residents of Apokoronas municipality whose citrus crops — oranges, lemons, mandarins and similar fruits — were damaged by the January 11 storm. Growers who do not submit a declaration by January 26 will not be eligible for any ELGA payout.
