Deputy mayor to lead Apokoronas for five days during Independence anniversary trip
The municipality of Apokoronas will be without its mayor for five days this month. From March 18 to 22, 2026, the mayor will be in Kalavryta — a twin municipality of Apokoronas — to take part in official celebrations marking the 205th anniversary of Greek Independence.
The trip comes at the invitation of the Kalavryta municipality. The two towns have maintained a twinning relationship for years, rooted in shared historical and cultural ties. The 205th anniversary of the 1821 Greek War of Independence is one of the most significant national commemorations in Greece.
While the mayor is away, Deputy Mayor Ioannis Apostolakis will assume full responsibility for running the municipality. Residents with urgent matters for the municipal leadership during that week should contact his office.
- Period of absence: March 18, 2026 to March 22, 2026
- Acting authority: Deputy Mayor Ioannis Apostolakis
