Apokoronas water bills explained: what residents owe and when to pay
Water billing across Apokoronas is back on track after a prolonged gap caused by the handover from the old municipal water department to the newly established utility company, DEYA Apokoronas. The changeover also involved a switch from a flat-rate pricing system to a tiered tariff, which meant that billing stopped for an extended period. To avoid hitting residents with a single large bill — which would have pushed many households into higher tariff bands — DEYA is splitting the accumulated consumption across four separate invoices, each covering one quarter of the total.
The four transition bills
Two of the four invoices were already issued during 2025. Both carry the same payment deadline:
- Payment deadline (bills 1 and 2): March 31, 2026
Two further bills are still to come:
- Bill 3: issued March 15, 2026, due by April 30, 2026
- Bill 4: issued April 15, 2026, due by May 29, 2026
Back to normal from mid-2026
Once the four transition bills are settled, DEYA will return to the standard four-month billing cycle. The upcoming schedule is:
- 3rd four-month period of 2025: meters read in January and February 2026, bill issued in May 2026
- 1st four-month period of 2026: meters read in May and June, bill issued by end of August 2026
- 2nd four-month period of 2026: meters read in September and October, bill issued by end of November 2026
Discounts and support for lower-income households
DEYA's board has already voted to introduce two relief measures: a discount for residents who pay on time, and targeted support for vulnerable households. Neither measure has been given a start date yet, but both are described as coming in the near term.
