Memorial for the Battles of Stylos and Babali

Eighty-five years after the Battle of Crete, a commemoration is being held in Apokoronas to honour the soldiers and fighters who fell during the battles of Stylos and Babali on 28 May 1941. The ceremony is organised jointly by the Crete Region – Regional Unit of Chania, the Municipality of Apokoronas, the Agia Sofia Foundation, and the Institute for Regional Press.

Programme

The event will open with a memorial prayer, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony. Representatives of the co-organising bodies will then offer greetings, before lawyer Argyro Koukianaki delivers a historical address on the events of May 28, 1941.

Organisations wishing to lay wreaths are responsible for providing them.
