Power cuts across Chania area: what you need to know
Households and businesses in a string of villages and neighbourhoods around Chania will lose electricity for several hours each day between June 29 and July 3, 2026. The cuts are planned by DEDDIE, the Greek electricity distribution network operator, to allow engineers to carry out essential maintenance work on the local grid.
If work is completed ahead of schedule, power will be restored before the stated end time. However, DEDDIE warns that all cables and network components should be treated as live at all times — even if they appear to be de-energised, and even if they are lying on the ground. Do not approach or touch any lines or equipment.
