Summary

Greece's electricity network operator DEDDIE will carry out maintenance work across the Chania region between July 12 and 17, 2026, causing planned power outages in dozens of villages and neighbourhoods. Areas affected include Georgioupolis, Platanos, Kekhres, Pervolia Sarakinas, Plemeniana, Agia Eirini, Xamoudochori and several districts of Chania city. Residents should note that even if work finishes early, all power lines must be treated as live at all times — approaching fallen or grounded cables is strictly forbidden.

Power cuts across Chania region: full schedule for July 12–17, 2026

Households and businesses across the Chania region are being warned of a series of planned electricity outages next week. The network operator DEDDIE needs to carry out essential maintenance on the power grid, and has notified residents that the cuts will affect a wide range of villages and urban neighbourhoods between Sunday, July 12 and Friday, July 17, 2026.

The cuts are planned to run within defined time windows. If the work is completed ahead of schedule, power will be restored before the listed end time — but residents are reminded that all power lines, including any that may have fallen to the ground, should be treated as live at all times. Approaching cables or any part of the network is strictly forbidden for safety reasons.

If your home or business is in one of the affected areas, make sure any sensitive equipment — such as boilers, refrigeration units or medical devices — is unplugged or protected before the scheduled cut begins. For longer outages running into the afternoon, plan accordingly for cooling, food storage, and any work that depends on electricity.
