Vryses school project earns national recognition from Ministry of Education
The vocational high school (EPAL) in the village of Vryses, in the Apokoronas area of western Crete, has been selected by the Greek Ministry of Education as one of 33 schools nationwide showcasing good practice. The school will be featured in "FOS Paideias" (Light of Education), a Ministry publication that highlights exemplary educational initiatives from across Greece.
Chosen from nearly 520 submissions
According to the municipality of Apokoronas, the school's initiative was selected from a total of 517 educational projects submitted from around the country. The municipality described the selection as recognition of the school's work in connecting education with social contribution. The specific project or activity that earned the distinction is not detailed in the announcement.
What the recognition means
For a vocational school in a rural part of Crete, being featured in a national Ministry publication is an uncommon level of visibility. Vocational schools in Greece frequently receive less public attention than general secondary schools, and inclusion in a ministerial showcase of best practices can help raise their profile.
The municipality of Apokoronas said it will continue to support educational efforts that promote values and develop the potential of young people in the area. No specific funding or measures were announced alongside the statement.
